Is Trader Node a Trading Journal?

No. Trader Node is a business management platform for prop traders — not a trading journal.

This is one of the most common questions we get, so let's clear it up.

What a Trading Journal Does

A trading journal tracks your individual trades. It records entries and exits, logs your setups and strategies, captures screenshots of your charts, and helps you review your execution and emotional state. Tools like TradeZella, Tradervue, and Edgewonk are built for exactly this purpose.

Trading journals answer the question: Am I a good trader?

What Trader Node Does

Trader Node tracks the business side of your trading. It organizes your challenge purchases, funded account payouts, operating expenses, private account performance, and overall cash flow into one centralized hub.

Trader Node answers a different question: Is my trading business actually profitable?

These are two very different questions. A trader can have excellent win rates and solid execution, but still run an unprofitable business because challenge fees, software costs, and failed evaluations eat into every payout. A trading journal won't show you that. Trader Node will.

How They Work Together

Trader Node and your trading journal complement each other perfectly. Your journal helps you become a better trader. Trader Node helps you run a smarter business. Together, they give you the complete picture — your performance at the trade level and your results at the business level.

Think of it like a restaurant. The head chef needs to perfect their recipes (that's the journal). But the restaurant owner also needs to track food costs, rent, staff expenses, and revenue to know if the business is making money (that's Trader Node). One doesn't replace the other.

What Trader Node Does Not Track

Trader Node does not track individual trades, chart setups, entry and exit prices, risk-to-reward ratios, or any trade-level analytics. It doesn't connect to MetaTrader, cTrader, or any trading platform. It's not designed to, and it never will be — because that's a different job, and there are great tools already built for it.

What Trader Node does — and does well — is everything else your trading business needs to stay organized, financially clear, and tax-ready.
