Managing Account Status
Private accounts have status indicators that help you organize active and inactive accounts. Status is purely organizational, it doesn't affect your financial data.
The Three Status Options
Active:
What it means: You're currently trading this account.
When to use:
The account is open and funded
You place trades regularly
It's part of your active trading operation
Color: Green badge
Paused:
What it means: The account exists but you're not currently trading it.
When to use:
Taking a break from trading this account
Waiting to add more funds
Temporarily focusing on other accounts
Account is in a drawdown and you're stepping back
Color: Yellow/Orange badge
Closed:
What it means: The account is no longer in use.
When to use:
You withdrew all funds and closed the account
The broker closed your account
You're no longer using this broker
The account is effectively dead
Color: Gray badge
How to Change Status
Open the account by clicking on it in the table
Find the status field in the Overview tab
Click to change
Select the new status
Changes save automatically
You can also use the three-dot menu on table rows for quick status changes.
Status Does Not Affect...
Your financial data:
Balance history remains intact
Deposits and withdrawals stay recorded
P&L calculations don't change
Historical metrics:
Past performance is preserved
Closed accounts still count in historical totals
Dashboard aggregates:
The underlying data isn't deleted, just how it's displayed and aggregated may change
Status Does Affect...
Default views:
"Active" accounts typically show by default
You may need to filter to see "Paused" or "Closed" accounts
Mental organization:
Helps you focus on what's currently relevant
Separates past from present
Counts and summaries:
"Active accounts" count only includes Active status
KPI cards — Total Private Equity, Net Trading P&L, and Net Cash Flow — aggregate data only from Active and Paused accounts. Closed and Archived accounts are excluded from these totals.
When to Change Status
Mark as Paused when:
You're taking a trading break but keeping the account open
You want to focus on other accounts temporarily
You're evaluating whether to continue with this account
The account has minimal balance and you're not adding more yet
Mark as Closed when:
You've withdrawn all funds
The account is officially closed with the broker
You have no intention of using it again
You want it out of your active view but preserved for records
Keep as Active when:
You trade it regularly
It's part of your current strategy
It has capital you're managing
Archiving vs. Closing
Closing (status change):
Account still appears in the system
Status shows "Closed"
Historical data fully accessible
Archiving (separate action):
Account is hidden from default views
Can be unarchived later
Useful for old accounts you rarely need to see
Some users set status to Closed AND archive the account for maximum cleanliness. Note that both Closed and Archived accounts are excluded from KPI card totals.
Viewing Accounts by Status
Use the view toggles or filters:
All Accounts: Shows everything
Active: Only active status
Closed: Only closed status
Or use the filter panel to select specific statuses.
Status History
When you change status, the platform may record this as an event:
"Status changed from Active to Paused"
Timestamp of the change
This creates an audit trail of account lifecycle.
Multiple Accounts Strategy
If you have multiple private accounts, use status strategically:
Example setup:
This keeps your focus on what matters while preserving history.
Status and Reporting
When generating reports or reviewing metrics:
Check which accounts are included
Closed and Archived accounts are excluded from KPI card totals (Total Private Equity, Net Trading P&L, Net Cash Flow)
All accounts are usually included in historical totals
Know how your chosen period and filters affect what you see.
Best Practices
Keep Status Current
When you stop trading an account, update the status. Don't leave accounts showing "Active" if they're not.
Use Paused for Temporary Breaks
Don't mark accounts as Closed if you might return to them. Paused indicates "not now, but maybe later." Note that Paused accounts still count toward your KPI card totals, while Closed accounts do not.
Close Formally
When an account is truly done, mark it Closed. This helps you recognize your actual active account count.
Review Periodically
Every few months, review your account list. Are statuses still accurate? Are there Paused accounts that should be Closed (or reactivated)?
Consider Archiving Old Closed Accounts
If you have many Closed accounts cluttering your view, archive them. They'll still exist for historical purposes.
